True Blue Equine is structured around these core beliefs:
1. Horsemanship is an artform.
There are specific, progressive skills that must be mastered to effectively create art, and yet these skills are only tools. True art is a continuous practice of self-discovery, personal development, and expression of one's true-blue self.
2. Horsemanship is universal.
The purpose of partnering with horses is not to become the next Grand Prix Olympian. The purpose of working with horses is that they help us become better humans. They teach us self-awareness, empathy, critical thinking, creative thinking, decision making, problem solving, effective communication, interpersonal relationships, coping with emotions, and coping with stress.
3. Horsemanship is not just riding.
The horse-human interaction is unlike any other. They are our stewards as much as we are theirs. They are not cars, bicycles, sports equipment, or humans. True connection to these magnificent living animals requires study, dedication, and commitment.
4. Horsemanship must be smart.
Our program is structured with specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound goals so that students can clearly see and celebrate their achievements and growth at every lesson.
As our name implies, True Blue Equine values truth, both in business and character, and wholeness. Being a horseman or horsewoman is not just about riding, but also about the study of horses and learning of self.
The horse-human connection is unlike any other interspecies relationship. It requires clear communication and attunement from both the horse and rider and is the foundation from which ALL relationships are built, whether in a partnership or in a herd.
We strive to create a space that is physically, mentally, and emotionally safe for all horses and people in the herd. We are dedicated to advocating for the horse's safety and giving clients the resources and guidance to keep themselves safe.
When humans put fences around horses we became part of their herd and took on the role of steward. It is our responsibility to exceed the highest standards of care as we contribute to the growth and development of the horses, equine community, and industry as a whole.
We believe that Horsemanship is an artform used to express one's true-blue self. It does require a foundational level of skill, but overall it is not a "skill" to be learned. Rather, it is a continuous experience of learning by doing and growth through grit and grace.
Horses value authenticity and congruence, which means that whatever is being felt or thought internally is what is expressed externally. They don't wear masks or tell lies, they are completely themselves, all the time.
